Development of an automatic control system for pressure monitoring for wheelchairs

- Abstract:
- This article presents the design of an automatic pressure control system for measuring pressure in hospital wheelchairs. The pressure measurement system employs a custom-designed 16x16 matrix force sensor. Experimental tests involving weight loads ranging from $400 \mathrm{~g}$ to $8 \mathrm{~kg}$ yielded sensor readings of 1000,940,730,600,500, and 400, respectively. These readings establish a clear correlation between the applied weight and the sensor’s output. The article also details the design and implementation of an air distribution system aimed at effectively dispersing excessive pressure in areas indicated by the force sensor matrix. Experimental results displayed on the designed user interface demonstrate the system’s capability to identify patient activities and postures while providing insights into the pressure distribution across different points.
